Are You Cookbook Crazy?
What is Cookbook Crazy (TM)? The problem is not yet a viable medical or psychological diagnosis. Many of us know, however, it is a real thing--I know. This special brand of crazy is part of my personal experience, Online, in book stores, at garage sales and thrift stores I look at cookbooks. Lots of my friends do, too. If you are here, I bet you do too--or know someone who does. You're not alone. Your partner or spouse isn't alone in their fascination with the written version of food and cooking.

Do you recognize Cookbook Craziness in yourself or those around you? Then you're in the right place. Here, we accept and support the unique enthusiasm. As a collector who has moved more than 400 individual cookbooks at times during my life, I understand. My cookbook collection occupies a special place in my heart. Sadly, I also understand the heart-breaking reality of investing in another precious cooking resource only to discover the end results don't live up to the hype. I'm here to help you avoid this tragedy. Good Recipes are Priceless! Crappy cookbooks are a serious waste of time and energy. I want all of you to get the information needed to avoid Cookbook Remorse (TM).
How can you do that? Check out cookbook reviews. Each review means I have read the book AND cooked recipes from it. You can even pop over to a sample recipe to try it for yourself before deciding to spend the money on your own copy. No one pays me to do this, so I can tell you what I really think. I'm not obligated to feed the hype or worship at the feet of some corporate marketing plan. I've been cooking and baking solo for over 30 years. I literally started feeding my family of origin in grade school--by choice! My friends and family all know when it's new recipe time, my table is worth the trip!

- Reading cookbooks like a novel or self-help book. Including taking notes, sharing what you find and cherishing the book.
- Re-reading cookbooks because once may simply not be enough!
- Fear of spending money on a cookbook only to find the reading process lacking in satisfaction (aka Cookbook Remorse--more on that later).
- The experience of actual mouth-watering or tummy gurgles resulting from reading the recipes and other parts of a cookbook.
- A sudden, uncontrollable urge to produce one or more recipes in the kitchen regardless of time of day or night, level of hunger or not, or actual need for anyone else in the house to eat at that precise moment.
- Unexpected trips to the grocery store with awareness arriving mid-shopping expedition as to the unknown outcome of the the targeted recipe.
